The Potro do Futuro: the event that reveals new generations
The competition for young horses that reveals the promise of each Quarter Horse generation in Brazil, similar to a futurity in the United States.
What it is
The Potro do Futuro, Portuguese for “foal of the future”, is a competition for young horses of the same generation, equivalent to futurities in the United States. The title appears at national events, such as the ABQM one, and at rounds of regional championships.
Why it matters
For breeders, it is the first big measure of a generation. A good result adds value to the horse, its parents and the breeding program.
